Involvement with NAI In 1988 a professor mentioned this new organization called NAI and recommended I join. I have been a member on and off since. Assisted with planning a few regional workshops in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Deadwood. Adviser of Collegiate Outdoor Leadership Program, the student NAI program at Black Hills State University.

Fun NAI Memory The North Dakota-Dickenson Workshop and the Nebraska Workshops were particularly fun as I was able to bring several students and watch them get excited about interpretation after being exposed to so many amazing interpreters!

Involvement with NAI In 2016, I became the faculty mentor of the Environmental Education Club at Iowa State University.  Members of this organization are undergraduate students with an interest in outdoor education, including nature interpretation. Our club now has membership in NAI. Although not directly linked to NAI, I have developed  a new course, "Field Ecology Research and Teaching".  A mission of this course is to provide opportunities for college students to teach Elementary School students about ecology.  This is accomplished by students developing lesson plans, and engaging children in ecological investigations during a field day event.

Fun NAI Memory I have not been involved with NAI very long, and have yet to attend a workshop or meeting.  However, I look forward to doing so very soon.

Fun NAI Memory I have a collective memory from every conference that I have attended because I enjoy the reunion feel of seeing familiar faces and long-time friends every year. Bringing college students to these conferences is a joy because they are so excited about the experience of getting to know who NAI is and they always have such a great time!
